About UsA Letter from the PresidentMay 23, 2008 Welcome to ArtWorks. This month members of ArtWorks will be joining up with the Capitol Arts Alliance and will be participating in Saturday in the Park with Art in Bowling Green’s Fountain Square on May 31. Artists will be demonstrating how art is produced, selling original art pieces, and enjoying the day on the Square. A portion of the proceeds will support the Houchen’s Gallery and ArtWorks Young Artist Grant Program. There is also a juried show tied in with this event that will be held at Vitrace Restaurant located right off the square. I would personally like to thank 440 Main/Mikki’s Restaurants for helping sponsor this event. The public is invited free of charge to mingle with art and artists. Tell all your friends and family to come and enjoy the day. ArtWorks continues to grow. We have nearly 90 members, our 501(c)(3) status is nearly complete, and our coalition is moving forward. A fall festival is being planned, the Young Artist Grant Program will soon be implemented, ArtWorks t-shirts have been ordered, and our very own pamphlet will be published shortly. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members who have jumped in and helped with a committee, particularly Jenny Lowe, our membership director, for getting ArtWorks pamphlet in the works, Laura Bain-Selbo for heading up the t-shirt committee, and Lynn O’Keefe, our communication’s chair, who continues to get the Artworks name out there. I would also like to thank those supporters who have financially contributed to ArtWorks. Without your kind generosity, ArtWorks would not be where it is today. Hope to see everyone May 31, at Fountain Square, 1 – 7 p.m. enjoying Saturday in the Park with Art.
