This Bulletin Board is a venue where announcements about ArtWorks members’ news, exhibitions, art opportunities, and announcements are shared. To have information published, please send concise information, synopsized into one to three sentences. The Bulletin Board is usually updated every Friday - email all announcements by Wednesday of each week.ART EXHIBITIONS/OPENINGS
– The current Artworks exhibition during the play “Our Town” at PTK runs through February 12. Exhibiting artists include Gayle Novick, Janet Armstrong, Lynette Haggbloom, Peg Truman, Nancy Blacketer, Nadine Wilkerson, and Delaire Rowe. To see the play and exhibition call 270-781-6233 for reservations.
– Steve Clay and Bob Gregory are exhibiting their artwork at the Presbyterian Church Gallery through March 22, 2012. See the exhibition by visiting the church through the 10th Street entrance. Hours 8:30-4:00 p.m.

CALL TO ARTISTS/OPPORTUNITIES
– To receive ArtWorks monthly emails - packed with information - please email us and ask to be added.--Members who would like to exhibit in the Phoenix Lobby Gallery at PTK during the spring 2012 play season, please contact Lynette at info@artworksinc.org for more information. The next opportunity to participate in an ArtWorks exhibition is during the play “A Little Princess.” The play runs February 23 through March 4. A prospectus has been mailed to members. – SPRING 2012 OPEN FIGURE SESSIONS. An open session is a chance for students, faculty and community members to work from a live model, without instruction, to develop their own work, try different media or just get into the discipline of figure drawing/painting/sculpting, etc. outside of class requirements. The model's fee is paid for by the WKU Art Department. For more information, please contact Prof. Mike Nichols, Room 461. Dates are subject to change. Please consult notices/emails for changes. Meet in the Painting Studio, FAC 403/420 at WKU. All meeting times are 7-9:30 p.m. Dates: February 7, 15, 21, and 29. March 13, 21, and 27. April 10, 18, and 24. Last date is May 2.
-- The Russellville Main Street Program is sponsoring a store featuring items made by artists and craftspeople in Kentucky. The store will be in a historic building on Main Street and will be opening the first week of November. Each participant will pay a membership fee/commission just to cover the overhead costs for the store (which will be non-profit). Artists will also be required to have a business license and will pay 1-2% city taxes. At the end of the year, if there is a profit available for distribution, each member will receive money based on his or her percentage of sales during the year. Each artist will sign a contract to be able to display artwork in the store and will set their own prices. There will be a wide variety of art mediums for sale and a wide price point to appeal to all shoppers. Darlene Gooch, is the manager for the Russellville Main Street program. – COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER'S FLOW GALLERY, Danville, KY. Are you interested in having your work for sale? The FLOW Gallery is a space in the Community Arts Center where artists can display their work! Artists can submit up to three works for a month to be on display-any genre, any medium. When three months is over, they can choose to replace the work with more pieces or remove their work altogether. Contact Brandon Long or visit www.communityartscenter.net.
– DOGWOOD REGIONAL FINE ARTS EXHIBITION_Deadline: Feb. 21, 2012. The Dogwood Regional Fine Arts Exhibition was developed to showcase and award the finest artists of our region. Artists from within a radius of 300 miles of Knoxville, Tenn., may enter. Fine art encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will be selected by a renowned juror for exhibition. -- Gallery on the Square in Franklin, KY (just 18 short miles south of Bowling Green) has openings
for artists to teach classes or workshops of various mediums.

Robin Swanson.--The Presbyterian Church’s Gallery is looking for artists. This is a great space to exhibit and sell your work. The Church publicizes and holds a reception for you. The church gallery continually features local and national artists. For information on how to apply to exhibit in the Presbyterian Church Gallery go to bgpres.org and click on Arts Ministry. -- Porter Café in the main library at 1225 State Street in Bowling Green features a local artist each month. The exhibit is open to the public during normal library hours. There is no charge. Requirements: Artists need to include an inventory (plus value) prior to installation in order to insure each piece. Exhibitions are also being held on a smaller scale at the Kirby branch (in front of Greenwood High). ArtWorks members have been continually exhibiting! All artists interested in exhibiting their work for next year are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. For more information contact Jayne Pelaski with the Warren County Public Library..
ART MEETINGS
– April 30, 2012, 6:30 p.m. Artworks Meeting at the 7th Ave Fire Station Community Room. Potluck! Presentation on preparing for a juried exhibition. More information coming soon.--The Arts Guild of the Barrens will meet on its regular meeting day, the first Thursday of each month, March 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Bistro. MEMBERS WIN AT JURIED EXHIBITIONS - 2011
– AW members who won awards at the 2011 All Kentucky Juried Exhibition include: BEST OF SHOW - Myra Dwyer for "Miranda." 2nd Place/Excellence - Gayle Novick for "Eyes Seeing Everywhere." 3rd Place/Excellence - Lindsay Oesterritter for "Pourers." Excellence Award presented by ArtWorks in memory of Kim Chalmers and Marsha Heidbrink went to Matt Fleishcmann for "Gorilla in the Midst." Other members who won Merit Awards include: Lynne Ferguson and Lauren A. Milliken, and Honorable Mentions went to Jared Weaver, Catherine Lehman, and C. David Jones.– Sonja Byrd won a merit award at the 2011 Deck the Walls Juried Art Exhibition in the ArtsACCESS Gallery for her art piece “Juliette's Boots.”
– Sheila Reeves won a merit award at the 2011 Deck the Walls Juried Art Exhibition n the ArtsACCESS Gallery for her art piece “Wagon Wheel.”
– Congratulations to Gary Cooper for winning an Award of Excellence for his woodworking at the Cincinnati Winter Fair.
– The Scottsville, KY Art Guild held their annual art show in September. Several ArtWorks members won awards. Best of Show was awarded to Steve Clay. Other winners were Pamm Douglas, Matt Fleischmann, Lynette Haggbloom, C. David Jones, Kim Jones, Claude Robertson, Lynn Robertson, and Kim Soule.
-- The 2011 Riverview at Hobson Grove Juried Fine Art Exhibition winners from the ArtWorks organization include: Lynette Frey Haggbloom for “Sorrows of the Past” and C. David Jones “Atwood & Juliette – Weekends at Home” were Merit Winners. Honorary members were Faye Christian Phillips for “Longchamp Race,” Michael Trapasso for “A House Divided,” and Peg Truman for “Going Home.”
-- The Duncan Hines Art Festival winners sponsored by the Bowling Green Junior Woman's Club (Aug 2011) were Amateur Division: 1st Place Painting - Eva Martens for "Towhee" and 2nd Place Photography - Shiela Reeves for "October Morning in Maine." -- The USBank Celebration awarded several ArtWorks’ members: Professional Watercolor: Steve Clay, 1st place; Professional Painting: Angela Kuprion, 2nd place and David Jones, 3rd; Professional Works on Paper: David Jones, 1st; Professional Photography: Lauren A. Milliken, 3rd place; and, Amateur Painting: Pamm Douglas, 2nd place.

OTHER ART NEWS
– Misha Ambrosia's art was on the cover of the January issue of SOKY.-– C. David Jones was the featured artist in the December issue of SOKY.
-- Dr. Michael Trapasso spoke Oct. 13th about “The Rise and Fall of a Confederate Capital: The Civil War in Bowling Green, Kentucky.” The presentation dealt with early Civil War History in Kentucky, but concentrated on Bowling Green, and its importance as a military base and stronghold, and as the Confederate State Capital.
-- A TV star amongst us --- Bill Van Tassel, president of ArtWorks, was the featured artist on KET Saturday, September 24th.
-- Misha Ambrosia’s art graced the cover of September’s SOKY magazine. Congrats Mish.
-- Jessica Snodgrass, ArtWorks Secretary, penned an article for the July issue of SOKY magazine. The article is about the ArtWorks 4th Annual Exhibition, and images of the winning art are published.
-- Nora LaCayo was the featured artist in the May issue of the SOKY magazine.
-- Angela Kuprion was chosen to paint a portrait of Honorable Walter A. Baker for the Capitol in Frankfort, KY. The Portrait Dedication Ceremony was held March 16th, 2011.
-- Brenda Brown’s “Transitions” is the featured art on the cover of the SOKY magazine.
